GIVE
2 Corinthians Chapter 9:6-7
“But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”
TITHE
Tithing is a practice rooted in religious traditions, where individuals contribute a specific portion of their income, usually ten percent, to support their faith community, specifically the church. It is believed that God desires people to give tithes for various reasons. Firstly, tithing is seen as an act of obedience and trust in God’s provision. By giving a portion of their income, individuals acknowledge that all they possess ultimately comes from God, and they demonstrate their willingness to prioritize Him in their lives. Tithing also serves as a means to support the work of the church, allowing it to carry out its mission and ministry effectively. It enables the church to provide spiritual guidance, pastoral care, education, and outreach programs that benefit both the congregation and the wider community. Moreover, tithing fosters a spirit of generosity, selflessness, and stewardship among believers. It encourages individuals to cultivate a heart of giving, not only financially but also in other aspects of their lives, such as time, talents, and resources. Ultimately, tithing is viewed as a way to honor God, participate in His work, and contribute to the well-being of the faith community. Click Here to Donate Now.
HOJ CHICAGO FREE-WILL OFFERING
A free will offering is a voluntary contribution made by individuals during religious services or gatherings, typically within a church setting. It is an act of giving that is not predetermined or mandated by any specific amount or requirement. Free will offerings are appreciated at church for several reasons. Firstly, they provide a means for individuals to express their gratitude and devotion to their faith community, as well as support the various programs, activities, and services offered by the church. These offerings often contribute to the overall financial well-being of the church, helping to cover operational expenses, charitable initiatives, and maintenance of the facility. Moreover, free will offerings symbolize a personal commitment to spiritual growth and a willingness to participate actively in the communal life of the church. The act of giving freely and generously fosters a sense of unity, shared responsibility, and collective support among the church members. Ultimately, free will offerings are valued as a tangible expression of faith and a way to sustain and enhance the spiritual journey of both individuals and the church community as a whole.
