The Passover commemorates the miraculous redemption and deliverance of the Nation of Israel who was held as bondmen in Egypt. Their lives were spared through faith from the Angel of death, by the spreading of the blood of a lamb without blemish on their doorposts and lintels as directed by the God of Israel through his prophet Moses. The event was a type and shadow for the true “Passover,” the redemptive work of Jesus our Messiah and Saviour who was slain for the salvation of the world. And through His shed blood we are no longer enemies being reconciled to God.
